I have not yet watched the last Muppets movie before this one but I can say I want to watch it now. I don’t watch many children’s movies so I am not so aware of the standard at which this film truly is. However, for a comedy film restricted to very mild language, it was decently funny.
In terms of comedy, it was pretty mediocre. The jokes came thick and fast but there were no classic jokes that anyone will be quoting after more than a day after seeing the movie. That being said, I was chuckling most of the time.
As this is a Muppets movie, it is the golden rule that there is going to be some funky songs. All these songs are filled with character and charm. Particularly, Ricky Gervais’ song was hilarious. When it comes to this movie, no songs come close to the interrogation song from the Sam the Eagle. Most importantly, the songs felt as if they added to the movie which is important because otherwise… just why?
Unfortunately, the movie really slows down towards the end. For a comedy movie, the end wasn’t that funny or overwhelmingly climactic. The end wasn’t out there enough for a Muppets; it just felt slow and building up to something. This something was just a green-screen heavy telling you the movie had ended.
This movie is rather humorous and heavy with cameos. The songs were interesting, rhythmic and entertaining. Looking back, it was an enjoyable two and a bit hours. I give Muppets Most Wanted a 6.5/10 – Worth a watch (if you’re a child).
